"Ectoin" based eye drops are non-prescription in Canada.   They are effective for mild to moderate ocular allergies and the common concurrent dry eyes. 

Ectoin is a natural molecule that helps protect cells from environmental stress, making it particularly useful in eye care products for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties.  They provide both immediate relief from dry, itchy, or irritated eyes and also protection against allergens such as pollen, dust, and pet dander.

Ectoin stabilizes (mast) cell membranes and forms a protective barrier on the eye surface, which helps retain moisture and reduces inflammation.
